I’ve been lurking on a few blogs in the last few months. Before this I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT ONE WAS (!!!) and the ones I like best are the kinda homey ones where nice people show you beautifully styled corners of their homes (nosey parker). I love seeing all the crafty creations too. So where do I sit in all this?
Well, I’m definitely not a crafter as I don’t really have the dexterity to make things well. Or the ability to make three dimensional objects.
I’m kind of stuck in a two dimensional world of drawing and designing but I believe the process is much the same even if the end result is a bit, er.... flatter?
I sit in my workroom at 9am after walking my 7 year old to school. The first of many cups of tea by my side and at least one cat keeping me company. I start drawing but not before I check my emails, surf a bit, gaze out at the wild but pretty garden, sigh at the general state of disarray around me. Oh, and by then it’s time for another cup of tea!
I’m an designer and illustator and I live with my lovely husband, and equally lovely son in Kent. When I have any time to myself, I like to create characters.
Elfie is based on my son Alexei and he has been the biggest influence on my work. He is my excuse to revisit the world of childhood. Alexei likes scurrying through bushes with a big stick in his hand and shouting. When he is not being feral, he likes to talk about Star Wars. I don’t.
