More Cake Please! (The cupcake revolution)

It is no secret that I spend all of my working day listening to Radio Four and I have now been quoted live on air a few moments ago! I'm feeling quite giddy! There was a piece today on You and Yours about the rising popularity of cupcakes in the States so a quick email to them to let them know that cakes of the small size are very popular here too. And they read it out at the end of the show!
We all love cupcakes don't we? Although I prefer them to be called Fairy Cakes (surprise, surprise). Or is there a difference between Fairy and Cup cakes?
Of course I had to plug my best seller badge didn't I?

Birthday Boy

Yesterday was Alexei's 8th birthday I can't believe my baby is 8 and I know that's what every mum says! Where does the time go? The day started with much unwrapping of gifts, friends dropping by and then tea at granny and grandpa's at the seaside. The big party is in a few weeks.

I decorated the house with the gorgeous bunting Samantha made for me. A nice contrast to the Doctor Who theme! At the moment, I'm really into the gaudiness of gladioli. (old lady tastes strike again!)

More bunting in the very untidy kitchen! I love our cooker. We've had it for years and years and it's still going strong. And it bakes perfect cakes!

We had a blissful day which was good as it was the last day of the summer holidays. Today starts with a nip in the air and mixed feelings: glee that I get on with some work uninterrupted but a bit of sadness too. Surely it's not Autumn already?
