Please sir! Can I have some more?

Victorian_day_2

My little urchin has just had a Victorian Day at school. They spent the day at the Museum of Kent Life which has loads of genuine Kentish buildings which have been reassembled on their site. There's a lovely old corrugated iron chapel and a schoolroom amongst others. It's well worth a visit if you're ever near by. Alexei told me with relish that children in the past were caned and beaten for being left handed. . . "Were YOU Mum?"
Yes, I'm left handed but luckily for me, my schooling took place in the free and liberal 1970's. Thank goodness . . pity about the fashion (a particulary revolting orange and brown trouser suit comes to mind) but you can't have everything.

By coincidence this week, I bought a Victorian desk and chair for Alexei.

He has wasted no time in filling it with stuff. I wonder where he gets that from?

Desk

Just look at the mess which is my workroom.

Shocking isn't it? It's half term here so I have to be nice entertaining mum as well as one that also keeps the pixie press rolling so the mess will have to wait.

And I bought this lovely book. The cat on the cosy sofa is called Colin. Colin the cat just makes the picture perfect doesn't he?

It would be rude not to . . .

. . .take advantage of the 10% off and free P&P at Cath Kidston offered in this months Country Living. This is the contents of my parcel, nothing too extravagant as you will understand . . .some of these items are destined to become Christmas presents . . .er, maybe.

But it's not just been spending orgies here at Pixieland . . .there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes. This little chap is a cute mushroom pixie destined to live amongst the pages of a colouring book I am currently creating.

And the website is nearly finished . . .why don't you pop over and have a look?

Have fun!

P is for . . .

Pumps . . .this was my second attempt at buying Marks and spencer Ballerina pumps. Last year I bought them in satin and they crippled my feet so this time I bought them half a size bigger and they're fine. I am turning into my mum*, what with the bunions and buying clothes from M&S. I am always confused about what to wear when the seasons change.

Pumps

I love this little red chair even though it is shabby and rickety, it's probably the most useful thing in the house. It has a green twin but I don't dare stand on it any more . . . falling on to a slate floor . . .ouch!
And of course my shoes aren't the only animal print things in the house as Percy will demonstrate beautifully here for you.

Percy_on_wall

Percy is being very strange at the moment,he's all hyped up, running around with a big fluffed up tail and I think this is the reason why.

Sparrow

On Friday we arrived home to a few tail feathers scattered around and my heart sank. Then we found some dollops of bird poo (nice) but no bird to be seen. A few hours later, Alexei spotted this little fella on top of the door frame. Boy, was he hard to catch but at least he had some fight left in him. Happily, he flew away despite a scraggy tail. Here is the horrible Percy by some of my Margaret Tarrant prints. Cats are TOTALLY aware of their beauty aren't they?

Party . . .18 small boys running around a Lazer place . . . I did think it might be a bit "lord of the flies" but they surprised me. Yes, they were noisy but there were no fights or falling out. And this time I made a Dalek cake with really thick chocolate butter icing. And there's a bit left over . . .off to polish it off now!

*Not such a bad thing as my mum has so much energy, but honestly, she is exhausting on a shopping trip.

The Pixie press is rolling . . .
