A new day, a new drawing. . . sort of!

Elfinmoonlight4blog

This drawing is called "Elfin moonlight" and I have laboured over it for 5 long years. I just couldn't get the moon's face right. I tried and tried but the face would not come. I don't think I'm very good at drawing creepy faces, although I should be, as when I was a little girl I used to peek at the diagram of a skull in my sister's biology textbook in horrified fascination all the time. One day, about six months ago I was looking in the antique section of our local paper, when I spotted a very ugly Toby jug on the front page. A strange attraction crept over me and I kept turning back again and again to that page. This was the sort of intriguing face I wanted to capture but couldn't. It has just the right qualities of creepiness with a kind of friendly look about it. So here it is, I've borrowed it for my drawing. Is that OK do you think?

What a lovely picture!

I think it is fine too! I also think you have tons of talent!!!

I'm a bit concerned that elf is about to be eaten. Great piece of art though!

Oooo- gosh! That never occured to me!!!

Hee, hee!

I think its great--reminds me of Moonface . Enid Blytons Faraway Tree Character

it's beautiful. I agree, Enid Blytons moonface for definite. Wish I'd kept that ook - sigh.
Fantastic blog.

Absolutely just right. I do think Lisa is right, it does make me think of moon face from the faraway tree. So perfect for a moon.

I like it is a lovely picture, I think moon is just right! I agree too, it does remind me of Moon face too! Lovely.
Love Alison x

It's a beautiful drawing as always - certainly the face does have a spooky quality about it.

You must be really pleased to have finished it at last.

As usual it's a lovely drawing you clever thing!

i just love this picture
its really still and magical and moony
i love the moon
i loved the magic faraway tree too.
boring info, the chairs on tables was for the cleaners so they could sweepa nd mop
we did it too!

I love your drawing, it's amazing. The innocent little elf is such a stark contrast to the moon. I don't know if I would call the moon 'creepy'- but it certainly seems more 'knowing' if that makes sense.
