More moon stuff
Thank you everyone for all your comments about the moon pic on the last post. I like the fact everyone thought of Moon Face. Funnily enough, I always imagined him to look a bit like this. More of a crescent shape face although this is a rubbish drawing.
In fact, you have all re-kindled memories for me: of sitting listening Mrs White read the Faraway Tree, the smell of plasticine and splintery wooden chairs. The afternoon sun slanting through the jars of catkins and runner beans growing on blotting paper on the window sills. That sleepy feeling just before we put the chairs on the tables ready for home time. Why did we put the chairs on the tables at home time? Or was it just a peculiarity of my small village school?
I also remember sitting in the same classroom listening to the story of Bluebeard. Now who would on earth have ever thought that was a suitable story for 7 year olds?
I've also got a new passion: Lavender chocolate. . Sophie recommended this and Ooo, it's divine ,if you like perfumed foods . . . yum, yum, yum. The blueberry and lavender jam is also a recent discovery and is also a superfood so of course so it can be scoffed guilt free. If anybody has any more suggestions for flowery edible treats please share!!!
{Note: I've only just remembered to put this picture in of the jam and chocolate. . yes, I know, how absent minded . . .now you know what I'm on about!}
Actually I'm in a really foody mood right now . . we're having stewed pink rhubarb and custard for pudding tonight. . . . so pretty. I can't wait. If I carry on eating treats at this rate I am going to end up with a moon face myself!
Here's the latest addition to the Made in Pixieland website . . . notecards printed on recycled paper using vegetable based inks. I always imagine that the printers are squashing cabbages and carrots to get these lovely pigments but no, the truth is a bit more mundane: the inks are vegetable oil based rather than mineral oil. They cost £3.50 per pack of 8 which includes recycled envelopes in a lovely bluebell colour.

Being a 70's child was so much fun! We used to have the desks with lift up lids and the ink wells. The smell of crayons always reminds me of the thrill I used to get when we got a new tobacco tin full of brand new crayons each term. Don't you wish you could go back sometimes?
Love the new notecards, perfect as usual!

Oohh yes our school was like that too, popping the chairs on the tables at home time.
I think I have some lavender recipes somewhere, I will have to hunt them out!
Wonderful note cards, so pretty as usual.

We used to put our chairs on the desks too. I have a feeling it was so the caretaker could mop the foors easily? I loved reading about your memory of sitting sleepily listening to the story at the end of the day. Really too me back to Primary School days. Love lavender chocolate and your cute new note cards.

The Faraway Tree was my all time favourite children's book, so I loved seeing your MoonFace picture :)
We put our chairs on the table too, a weird 1970's thing, but they've just started doing it in my daughters reception class, so I'll ask why they do it!.

Ooh there is a lot of nostaliga around at the minute (me included!) I loved the faraway tree. We too put chairs on tables. I think it is easier for the cleaner to clean the floors if the chairs are on the table. :/
Love the new items and mmm that chocolate and jam look divine.

We also put our chairs on our desks at 'going home' time. Then, as it was a church school, we had to stand behind them and say prayers. I'm pretty sure the putting the chairs on the desk thing had something to do with making it easier for the cleaners. I love the idea of Lavender chocolate, is it easily available?

Hello Claire,
Aww school, how easy we all had it lol
I wouldn't want to go back now though, would you?
Can I be cheeky and ask for the web address of the prints you use, I want to be greener with my business cards and flyers. Thanks hun.
I think you can get lavender sugar, on the flowery food front. We must get together soon for coffee.
Hugs.

gorgeous notecards, I'm a child of the 70s too and remember putting our chairs up on the tables at the end of the day so the cleaners could mop the classroom floor. The smells that take me to my childhood are the lovely smell when you sharpen pencils and also Playdoh, we bought Twiglet a big box of the stuff for Christmas and I love to open up a tub and INHALE - yes I know it sounds barmy :)
